HELP
Arduino, Stevia Coca-Cola can, Ceramic, 2020
5.4 x 8 x 16.5 (cm)

HELP attempts to assess the nature of human connections. How connections are formed through the reliance to another. ‘Help’, is a way of asking support from another and a way of giving support to another. Yet, the word sees shallow in front of nature’s calamity.

The work uses Arduino programmed to create a looped tapping of four series of numbers, symbolising the spelling of ‘help’. The extensions form the servo taps on the empty Stevia Coca-Cola can. Resting on the surface of the empty can lies a fly, appearing to be calm and stagnant. On the surface of a single empty Coca-Cola can. The tapping motion creates a sound that attracts attention. The sound is however so weak that it could not chase away a small fly.
